Tallinn sound scripts

Powered by Telliskivi Creative City, Viru Keskus and Interior Architecture Department of the Estonian Academy of Arts.

Three unique site specific multi speaker sound pieces commissioned and installed in soft-scaped architectural forms which used algorithmic designs rendered in local CNC machined wood and treated in an oil commonly found in rural areas of Estonia. Created by the Interior Architecture Department of the Estonian Academy of Arts in cooperation with the architecture practice PART, the installations marked the festival’s urban axis from Musumägi (Kissing Hill) and Nunne Street in old town to Telliskivi.

The sound works featured field recordings of Tallinn locations, archive material and manipulated sounds, forming a compelling aural description of the city. These were created, mixed and installed by steve hellier in collaboration with Tallinn DJ Aivar Tõnso, DJ Nick Luscombe and made possible by Musicity global.
